South London Korfball had its third home game and welcomed Nomads 3 and 4 to Ernest Bevin on Sunday 17th October.
Mitcham started out in attack with Captain Sarah Broadberry, Frankie Neil, Tom Davies and Chris Rennison, with Jess White, Flo Webb, Matt Norman and Edwin Huijberts in defence. The first half saw some good distance shooting from Nomads, with 7 of their 11 first goals from the outside. Mitcham mustered 2 goals with Flo Webb and Matt Norman scoring.
The second half saw an improvement from Mitcham. Nomads put another 9 goals on the score board, but Mitcham up their scoring, with 7 goals. Three of which came for substitutes Laura Jenkinson (2) and Luke Broadberry. Final score 9-20.
Balham saw a number of players make their debut. Gemma Matthews, Laura Jenkinson, Gaston Senese and Chris Rennison started in attack, while Jennifer Gray, Becky Torn, Luke Broadberry and Edwin Huijberts started in defence. Jennifer Gray opened her account with the first two goals for Balham to bring the scores to 2-5, Chris Rennison scored a free pass and Luke Broadberry scored off the rebound to make it 4-8. Substitute Becky Torn scored 3 goals to make the final score 7-14.
