South London Korfball’s second team – Balham – drew 11-11 against Nomads 4. Balham started brightly, but Nomads came back into the game with their substitutes to level the scores with a penalty.

Balham set out with captain Laura Jenkinson, Jessica White, Liam Clarke and new joiner Kieran Clarke in attack. Megan Ridsdale, Julia Susewind, Chris Rennison and Luke Broadberry started in defence. Balham were 7-4 up at half time with goals from Liam (4), Megan, Jess and Chris.

The second half started well, Balham attacking well but not scoring. Nomads got back into the game with a free pass, but new comer Kieran scored a goal to reinstate a 3-goal lead. Liam added one from distance before a change of ends saw Luke score from distance to make it 10-5. Nomads changed their team up and Balham started to be more wasteful in attack. Nomads missed a penalty, but then proceeded to score 5 in a row with some good distance shooting. Captain Laura scored a late long shot to put Balham back in the lead 11-10, but a late penalty saw the teams share the points.
