Mitcham played another hard fought match on Sunday 10 October after last weekend’s season opener against a very strong Bromley team.

The home team started slowly and Highbury took advantage of this by scoring with a number of shots from mid to long ranges taking the scoreline to 5-0 in just 11 minutes.

Mitcham took a timeout to organise themselves and came back out much stronger defensively, with the score reaching 7-0 at halftime.

After a half-time assessment of the game, Mitcham came back out strong and enjoyed more shooting opportunities and come close to scoring a number of times. But sadly, you don’t get half points for hitting the top of the basket.

Mitcham finally broke through with a great rebound goal coming from Sarah Broadberry and continued to make chances, including a penalty, without scoring. Highbury continued to shoot well and the game finished 12-1 to Highbury.

Overall it was a tough game with against a side with great shooting ability but the scoreline did not represent the competiveness of the game. Thanks to Alex from Supernova for reffing. Onto the next one!
