South London Korfball’s second team – Balham – played Bec 3 on Sunday 25th January. Sam Loader, Andrew Thomas, Dulcie Keeley and Sarah Broadberry started in defence, with Amy Cook, Merel Krediet, John Wilson and Tom Weisner starting in attack.
Bec opened the scoring with a long shot, but Balham hit back with the next 3 – Merel, Sarah and Sam all getting on the score sheet. Bec then scored the next 3 before Sarah scored to make the scores level at 4-4. While Balham created chances, they wouldn’t drop and Bec’s more clinical shooting got them 3 more goals before Sarah scored her third of the game to make the scores 7-5 just before half time.
Bec got the first goal of the second half with a running in shot. Balham’s John Wilson scored a long shot and Sarah scored a drop off to bring the score to 8-7. But the momentum was with Bec who scored the next 5 goals unanswered to finish the match 13-7 winners.
