South London’s Balham team played a home game against Supernova 5 on 2 November. Despite the early start time, everyone was on time and in good spirits to play a great game of korfball.
John clearly was the most awake of everyone, when his nice long shot went in in the first minute. SoLo went on to take a three goal lead with long shots from Eleanor and Liam before Supernova got their first goal in in the ninth minute. The rest of the first half had only one goal when Sam W score a free pass, leading to a 4 – 1 score at half time.
People clearly had saved up their goals for the second half. Within the first five minutes, Sam W, Liam and Sarah doubled the lead for SoLo to 7-1. That was the wake up call that Supernova needed. In eight minutes they scored five times, while Merel scored only one for SoLo. The six point lead had shrunk to two: 8-6. Then Sam L scored his first of the game, only for Supernova to bring the difference back to two in the next attack. With ten minutes on the clock, it was looking to be an exiting end of the game. However, SoLo defended well and didn’t concede any more. The last goal came from Eleanor, meaning SoLo kept the points at home with a great 10 – 7 win.
