Final Score: Balham 9 – 18 Bec
Balham faced a strong Bec 3 side away from home and, despite the final scoreline, put in an encouraging attacking performance with nine well-taken goals shared across the team. South London lined up with new joiner Hattie Dukes, Eleanor Rickenbach, Sam Loader and Charlie Corfield in defence and Dulcie Keeley, Merel Krediet, Tom Weimer and John Wilson in defence.
Bec started sharply with several long shots, but Balham responded and created plenty of their own chances. At the end of the game both Balham division found the net, and the team’s persistence and movement paid off throughout the game.
Balham showed excellent teamwork, with six different scorers contributing to the total — a clear sign of attacking balance and confidence throughout the squad. John Wilson led the scoring with a well-deserved hat-trick, all from long-range shots. Charlie Corfield added two goals in quick succession in the second half — one from close range and one from a penalty. Dulcie, Sam, Eleanor, and Merel each scored a fine long shot, showing the team’s ability to convert from distance.
While Bec’s shooting accuracy gave them the edge overall, Balham maintained strong phases of play, demonstrating composure, teamwork, and a growing attacking threat that bodes well for future matches.
